Sri Sai Priya Avuthu

Sri Avuthu is a PhD student in Bioengineering with an MS degree in Biotechnology from Northeastern University and a B.Tech degree in Biotechnology from KL University, India. Her research interests include nuclear lamins, mechanobiology, mechanotransduction, and organoid models, with a focus on understanding how mechanical forces influence cellular behavior and tissue function. She is passionate about uncovering the molecular mechanisms that regulate cellular responses to their physical environment and contribute to health and disease.

Sri’s work combines principles of cell biology, molecular biology, and bioengineering to investigate the role of nuclear architecture in mechanosensing and mechanotransduction. She presented her research, “Investigating the Role of Nuclear Lamins in the Mechanobiology of Epithelium,” at NOBCChE in June 2025, where she received the Best Poster Award in the Master's category. She also presented “Temporal Regulation of Epithelial Nuclear and Cellular Mechanics by Nuclear Lamins” at the ASCB Annual Meeting in December 2025, highlighting her contributions to understanding the relationship between nuclear structure and cellular mechanics. Originally from Vijayawada, India, Sri enjoys cooking, learning about new cultures, fashion designing, vlogging, and exploring local cafés in her free time.
