Sophia Millan is a PhD student in Bioengineering whose research focuses on tissue engineering, soft bioelectronics, biomaterials, and implantable medical devices. She earned her BS in Biomedical Engineering with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and is motivated by the opportunity to develop technologies that improve patient care and advance regenerative medicine.

Her research integrates engineered materials with biological systems to better understand tissue function and develop novel therapeutic platforms. Sophia is particularly interested in creating bioelectronic systems that can interface seamlessly with living tissues and provide meaningful physiological insights. She has presented her work through an oral presentation at the MRS Fall 2025 conference. Outside of the laboratory, Sophia enjoys biking, skiing, reading, and traveling.
