Preethi Mahendrakumar
Preethi Mahendrakumar is an undergraduate student in Bioengineering at Northeastern University. Her research interests focus on mechanobiology and glaucoma, with an emphasis on understanding how biomechanical and cellular processes influence ocular health and disease progression. She is passionate about applying engineering and biological approaches to investigate the mechanisms underlying vision-related disorders and identify opportunities for improved therapeutic interventions.
Preethi’s work combines principles of bioengineering, cell biology, and mechanobiology to study how cells respond to their physical microenvironment and how these responses contribute to disease development. Through her research, she aims to advance our understanding of glaucoma and support the development of innovative strategies for preserving vision and improving patient outcomes. Originally from Nashua, New Hampshire, Preethi enjoys watching horror movies, traveling, and hiking in her free time.
